Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February, Timişoara Software Business Incubator hosts the GeekMeet24, a 24 hours software development mini-festival, bringing together over 30 web development experts from Timişoara and 2 from Bucharest, aiming to jointly create 4 web applications of public interest for the Timişoara and Timiş County communities.
The participating experts (programmers, web designers, marketing specialists, project managers), employees local companies or freelancers, are volunteering 24 hours of their week-end time, pursuing launching of functional applications that will serve to:
- public and real-time geo-reporting of emergency situations,
- establishment of online communication between schools and students' families
- establishment of a local community of people willing to free-base share their resources (knowledges, skills, tools, etc.)
- a local web-based community portal for helping those interested in sharing information on „rare or hard to find" goods or services
Timişoara Software Business Incubator is supporting the GeekMeet24 as part of its constant opening towards communities of local IT people and also as encouragement of specialised expertise volunteer giving to local community.
